FAQs

Q: HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO SWIM?

A: Absolutely nothing! Everyone is welcome.

Q: IS IT TOO LATE TO REGISTER / ARE THERE ANY SPACES LEFT?

A: It’s never too late. You are free to turn up on the day and then decide. All we ask is that you take the time to register on the morning so we know how many people enter the sea.

Q: DO I HAVE TO GET A FORM AND RAISE MONEY ?

A: No you don’t. But why not do it anyway?

Q: I JUST WANT TO COME AND WATCH, IS THAT OK?

A: Of course! Many people do. Bring the family, kids, dog, neighbours… everybody!

Q: WILL THERE BE SOMEWHERE WARM TO SHELTER AFTER?

A: The Hi-Tide is open and serving, it’s a great place to retreat to after emerging from the sea.

Q: WHERE DOES ALL THE MONEY GO?

A: Look at the DONATE page for an idea of the sort of help we give.

Q: CAN THE MONEY I RAISE BE GIVEN TO A CHARITY OF MY OWN CHOICE?

A: We always ask swimmers to support the ‘Swims’ chosen charities. Our chosen charities are displayed on the home page. If you could help to raise some money towards these it would be appreciated; if however you chose another charity then we would ask, as it says on our sponsorship form, that you let us know how much you raised and for whom, so that we can collate a ‘grand total’ of the money raised by the Swim.

Q: HOW FAR DO I HAVE TO SWIM?

A: There is no set distance, most people stay within chest depth and swim a few strokes. It is entirely up to you how long you stay in or how much swimming you do. Just come along and enjoy the swim without getting too cold.
