With all previous records broken, more than 680 swimmers took the traditional Christmas morning dip in the sea at Sandy Bay Porthcawl whilst an estimated 3000 spectators cheered them on.  With a crowded beach Porthcawl Coastguards fired a maroon to signal the run down the beach from the Hi-Tide Inn to the sea at 11.45am.  [...]

This year, the swim organisers have already decided on a main charity to benefit from the proceeds of the swim. Christmas 2005 saw the biggest swim in the 40+ years history. An astounding 600+ swimmers entered the sea. Thousands came to watch and the weather was fine. Can we do it again this year? Well we’re hoping that maybe we can top our new record. Maybe even get on TV again. Come join in!
